Noisebridge has had an event by the name of Five Minutes of Fame (5MoF) for quite some time. I myself have only gone to two of them. Both were quite exciting and interesting. As is the case with hackerspaces, people ran out of spoons and forgot and one hasn't happened this month.
I'm stepping up to try and run one myself. Previously I've herded cats who volunteered to help refinish the wood floor. Getting 10 people to talk for five minutes each the third Thursday of next month Can't be too hard, hmm?
